Common people . . .
Story after story marked by scandal, stumble, and intrigue. Who are these people? They’re the people of the Bible.
And they’re us. We find our stories in theirs. We find our hope where they found theirs. In the hands of an Uncommon God.
In the midst of them all . . . hovering over them all . . . is the hero of it all: God. Maker. Shaper. Rescuer of sinking hearts. God. Passing out high callings, second chances and moral compasses to all comers and takers.
In this gathering of inspiring stories from his numerous best-selling books, master storyteller Max Lucado revisits some of his favorite biblical characters–all of whom were very human and imperfect, just like us.
If God can find a place for them . . . he just might have a place for us too.
In Cast of Characters Max Lucado pulls some of the most thought about characters from the Bible and places them our era and asks the questions we all have wondered.
“I wonder if Eve ate any more fruit.”
“I wonder if Noah slept well during storms.”
“I wonder if Jonah liked fish or if Jeremiah had friends.”
“Did Moses avoid bushes? Did Jesus tell Jokes? Did Peter ever try water-walking again?”

Joseph’s Prayer (pg 1)
With a perfect blend of scripture, story-telling, both historical and contemporary, Lucado sticks our feet in their shoes. By using ordinary people, Lucado shows us the circumstances, and makes us wonder how we would react. He shares the outcome, and propels us toward hope that maybe, just maybe God can forive me, or heal me, or use me, or . . .
Cast of Characters is one of the best fictional devotional books I’ve read. It’s an excellent character study to span generations. Ideal for the Sunday School room, or personal devotions. I fully intend on using Cast of Characters as part of our family devotions. I think it is important for my children to see even people from the bible were imperfect.

Rich. I actually do have some questions for you if it’s allright.
Could it be simply me or does it give the impression like a
few of these comments appear as if they are written by brain dead individuals?
😛 And, if you are posting on additional sites, I’d like to
follow anything new you have to post. Could you post
