The Preacher’s Bride by Laurie Kingery

When her little brother died, Faith Bennett lost her trust in God. She’s kept this secret from the good people of Simpson Creek, yet she can’t deceive Gil Chadwick. She’ll be Gil’s friend, but without a faith to match his, she can never be the handsome new preacher’s bride.

Though Gil cherishes Faith’s friendship, he wants a wife. And in kind, upright Faith, he’s convinced he’s found her. The secret heartache of his past fades as he watches her nurse his father. When danger finds her, he’ll risk everything to save her. For where there’s Faith, there’s love…and the promise a new beginning together.

I have to say that I was excited to get my hands on The Preacher’s Bride, the fifth book in the Brides of Simpson Creek series. Laurie Kingery snagged my interest back in 2009 when I read The Outlaw’s Lady. She became an automatic buy with her first Simpson Creek book, Mail Order Cowboy.

If you read the previous book four, The Rancher’s Courtship, then you got a pretty good introduction to the hero in book five, and let me tell you I was beyond curious to see how Kingery would make polite Reverend Gil Chadwick into hero material. She didn’t disappoint.

The Preacher’s Bride isn’t just a piece of candied fiction. It deals with the tough issue of losing faith when bad things happen to good people, a fresh subject lesson that is not often used in inspirational romance. Kingery’s story enables the reader to think about similar situations in their own life, but she does not leave the reader pondering alone. She sprinkles  great pieces of scripture and wisdom which reveals a greater depth of  God’s character. I couldn’t help but feel great hope for restoration for those who’ve lost their faith. I also couldn’t help but think what a great book this would be to have in women’s prisons and circulating through homeless shelters.

Major kudos, Laurie. I pray this book is pivotal in bringing many back to the throne room.

The Preacher’s Bride will be available October 2012. If you haven’t read the rest of the books in the Brides of Simpson Creek series you can find them at Amazon.com. You can find the list of her books here.

The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this book. Her generosity has in no way shape or form, yada, yada influenced my opinion.
