Sunday Sermon ~ God Glimmers

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

From The Message

I love the glimmers God shows me just when I need them most.

The last twenty-four hours or so have been filled with worry over a little friend who came into our lives a little over a week ago. As much as I want to tell his story I cannot because I know once I allow the words to flow some not so nice things will come off my tongue. God’s word says we should take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 5), and so I’m trying to practice this very thing. However, because of the events that have occurred over the last several days I carry a heavy burden for my little friend, so much so that I find myself fighting back tears of sorrow. However, God is faithful and He gave me a little nugget to remind me that instead of worrying over my little friend I should allow my requests, and yes, even praises turn to prayers. God already knows my concerns, He knows my heart, He knows my thoughts (Jeremiah 17:10) He just wants me to trust Him enough with these worries and concerns of mine. He wants me to realize that He is big enough to take care of my concerns and that He loves me enough to offer me peace when I do trust Him.

My song as I lay down to sleep, and one I hope will be in my thoughts as I rise and prepare for Sunday worship.
