For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7
Wow. I realize this is talking about eating at a stingy man’s table, but the line itself is powerful. It seems I keep coming across people, in person and on the Internet, that leak negativity, so much so that the negativity combined tries to suffocate and stealing the joy of those around them. That old saying misery loves company, kind of thing. Our thoughts become us. If we think grumpy, we become grumpy, if we think snide we are snide, if we think woe is me, we become such, if we think the world is out to get then all we see is the world out to get us, that is one reason why we are to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ (2 Cor 10:5)
Those who have reason to be thankful should continually be singing praises to the Lord. (James 5:13) Because he is so good. We can dine at His table with confidence knowing that He is not stingy, knowing He does not harbor ill will toward us. We can dine at His table knowing that He fully and completely LOVES us, so much so that He chose to set aside His deity, walked among us, and gave up His life for US, so that we could have communion with the Father who also loves us so much that He gave his son, HIS SON, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal LIFE. (John 3:16)
Those who have reason to be thankful should continually be singing praises to the Lord. Be thankful for what He has done for you. Be thankful that HE gave his life for you. That is joy enough and that JOY, the JOY of the LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH.
I beseech you, break free from the bounds that chain you, begin by thanking the Lord. Thank Him for what you have, focus on His goodness
