In preparation for my 2026 Amish books, I’d like to officially announce, my Amish Fiction reader’s group. Of course, I’ll post about my upcoming books, news, more news, and more news, but I’ll also talk about the Amish books I read, research I come across, and some local Kansas Amish communities. I also hope you all will share about the Amish books you read. I’d also like to invite authors of Amish fiction to stop by and join us. I’m all about supporting the writing community and their readers.
If you’d like to join, please click on the link, The Plainly Smitten Circle.
Circle Letters are a form of communication among the Amish. The writer will often write a letter and include addresses to everyone they wish it sent to. The first receiver will add her letter, mostly with updates on what is going on in their lives such as upcoming marriages and births, their favorite recipes, stories about how the milk cow escaped the pen again and ate the neighbor’s flowers, and I’m sure they share their latest favorite reads, and then she will send both letters to the next receiver. The system continues until all recipients have received the letters and end back to the original sender, therefore completing the circle. I think you get the idea. It’s a beautiful way of connecting their communities together without the use of technology. Of course, we’ll be using technology, but the concept will be the same.
I hope to see you all there.
