Coffee & Chat with Danielle Grandinetti

Hi, Danielle, welcome to Coffee & Chat. Tell us, what’s your favorite coffee/tea?

Tea! I drink several cups a day, and my favorite is a Chai Latte or a London Fog.

I like Chai Latte, but I’ve never heard of London Fog. It sounds a little murky. I’ll definitely have to research that one. So, what are you currently reading and what are your thoughts on what you’re reading?

I’m currently reading The Bow Street Runners Trilogy by Michelle Griep, which I received as a Christmas gift. It’s so good! I’m a Dickens fan, so I love Michelle Griep’s writing and her characters are amazing.

Can I say, I’m a huge Michelle Griep fan. I love her Blackfriars’s series, too. I can’t wait to read Bow Street Runners. You mentioned you’re a Dickens fan, too. Who’s your all-time fictional character and why?

All-time is Sherlock Holmes. But in Christian Fiction, it’s tied between several of Roseanna M. White’s heroes, like Philip and Brice and Thad and Sheridan. I also love Karen Witemeyer’s heroes. Oh, and Kekoa, from Natalie Walters’ Fatal Code (IYKYK).

Although I do have one of Roseanna’s books, I haven’t read any of her stories, yet. I’ll have to put them on my TBR list. I like Karen Witemeyer as well, and I’m with you on Sherlock. Do you have a “the book was better than the movie”? If so, which one and why?

Not really. I tend to take a movie at face value rather than compare it to the book. Also, not many of my favorite books were made into movies. Or, in the case of Sherlock Holmes, the adaptations are too many and varied.

I think I’m finding a lot of people are in the same camp as you. They don’t like comparing movies to books. I honestly think movies are condensed, making it hard to compare. Now, let’s talk your book. What is something about this book you want readers to really take away?

My upcoming release is Relying on the Enemy. In keeping with the theme of classic books, favorite heroes, and books-to-movies … the hero in my story is a nod to the one and only Gilbert Blythe. I loved weaving little pieces of Anne of Green Gables into this marriage of convenience story. I hope readers will love it, too. And, the biggest takeaway is that God can redeem even the hardest situations.

Back cover:

She’s protecting her children. He’s redeeming his past. But there’s nothing convenient about saving their patchwork family.

Wisconsin, 1931—All widowed mother Marian Ward wants is to provide for her girls. However, she faces the dead of winter with no income and dwindling resources. Then she overhears a nefarious conversation, putting her life and that of her children in immediate danger.

Aiming to make amends to the Wards, Gilbert steps in when the threat to Marian escalates. It costs him dearly. Either lose his career or marry her, and be tied to his past until death do them part.

He leaves the decision to Marian, who will do anything to protect her girls, even marry the son of the man who ruined her family. How will their fledgling trust prove strong enough to fulfill their vows as winter tightens its grip and desperation stalks at the door?

Welcome to Crow’s Nest, where danger and romance meet at the water’s edge.

Wow, that sounds fascinating. I can’t wait to read it.
