Featuring Janetta Fudge Messmer

Hi, Janetta, thank you for stopping by and sharing some of your favorites.
What’s your favorite – coffee/tea?
I have to say hot tea. Had to give up coffee a few years ago. It makes me too jumpy.
I haven’t had tea in years, I’m more of a coffee drinker, but only occasionally.
What are you currently reading?
I just finished The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip.
OH! Yes, that is a fabulous book by Sara Brunsvold. The book even tied for first place in The Christy Award for First Novel.
What are your thoughts on The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip?
If you haven’t read this book, do. It’s fantastic!!! After I finished it, I decided I needed a break because of how good it was.

I completely understand the need for a break after reading a good book. There seems to be a need to process all that you read, and then, I know for myself, I tend to examine the author’s technique and skill to see what I can learn from them and their story.
Who’s your all-time favorite character and why?
The book is Flowers for Algernon. Charlie was the main character who was developmentally disabled. It’s his journey and it’s a book that taught me how important compassion for others is.

Thank you for telling me about this book. I started reading it last week. I’m about half-way through and it’s really hitting me in the feels.
I’m nervous about how it’s going to play out, and I can’t help wondering how things have changed over the years when it comes to the treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Do you have a “the book was better than the movie”? If so, which one and why?
The Help. The book brought out the characters so much more than the movie. One scene that I LOVED in the book disappointed me on how they did it in the movie. I understood because they couldn’t expound on every scene. I did like the movie.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen or read the book. I think I’ll need to revisit that one.
Thank you, Janetta, for hanging out with us on Coffee & Chat. Oh, and before I forget, here is Janetta’s latest release, and after reading the blurb, it sounds like a fun Christmas read.

Breanna Snow owns the Snowed Inn B&B outside of Boulder, Colorado. And the city manager, Matthew Jacobson, is irritating the socks off of her. The Go-By-The-Book-Kind-Of-Guy wants to shut her bed and breakfast down. And Bree has no clue why.
But she doesn’t have time for Mr. Jacobson’s nonsense. She’s getting married. However, a tiny hiccup occurs while she’s trying on her wedding dress. It literally turns her world upside down. And to her dismay, the city manager is right in the middle of it.
Will the mortal enemies find a way to work things out before her B&B closes? Or will they die trying? And can a random act of kindness from years ago change her heart to hear the truth?

Bio:
Turning Life into Comedy is Janetta Fudge Messmer’s tagline. The genre she writes in is Christian Comedy (with a touch of Romance). Janetta also writes devotionals since life on the road in a camper gives her plenty of material. When she’s not writing, she teaches classes on how to “Tell Your Story.” The inspiration for the class came when she asked her mother questions about her life. Janetta, her hubby (Ray), and their pooch (Maggie) are full-time RVers. Most days, you’ll find them out sightseeing…but first Janetta has to sit down and write a few words.
